Calibration Question Ender 3 V3 KE

Hello,

I just setup my new Ender 3 V3 KE printer and my first test print of the bench boat didn’t stick to the bed. I saw some posts about tightening all of the screws. Just did that and we’ll see if that helps.

I did notice that when it did the initial bed leveling in the setup and before the print, the first row of calibration steps seems to be in mid air in front of the print bed. Is this normal? If not, how do I fix this?

Thanks,

Troy

The auto-levelling isn’t perfect if it is anything like my V3KE you will need a little adjustment of the z-offset, mine needs an extra 0.1mm to get a decent first layer. Print with a nice wide skirt and adjust the nozzle height while it is printing that.

Thanks, I’ll give it a shot.

I did a manual adjustment of the z axis before printing, but it seems to get wiped out and back to the numbers I noticed before I made a small adjustment. Is there any way to make that stick and still use the auto bed leveling, or do I not need to worry about the calibration check box? Sorry for the stupid questions. I am new to this printer and coming from the old Ender 3 V2 without any fancy leveling and I used Cura as my slicer.

Not a stupid question, I personally don’t recalibrate every print. Once it is set I leave it be.

Thanks! I’ll keep tweaking the z-axis a minute amount at a time until things stick. To make sure I’m thinking it through correctly, for example, if i want to move the nozzle closer to the print surface I enter a -0.01. Is that correct?

I really appreciate your help.

Have a great evening,

Troy

Yes minus values are closer to the bed. Wouldn’t be surprised if the value is much bigger than 0.01, more like 0.1-0.15 perhaps more.
