Can't load filament

Just got my SparkX, ran the initial tests OK, but unable to get a single filament to load. First attempt takes in a short length of filament, but no filament is extruded. Hit retry several times but nothing happens. Hit proceed and then Unload. Clipped the filament, switched to a different input hole and tried again. Same result. After consulting the robot WiKi I tried the human agent which wasted 2.5 hours waiting in a queue, he took some details and said they would be in touch by email, but so far no response. This is my second disastrous attempt to get a working printer. I eventually gave up on the Ender3 which they eventually took back and put the refund towards the SparkX. I wish I’d just got the refund and gone to Bambu or something else. Anyone have any useful suggestions on how to get this thing to work?

try unhooking the ptfe tube and see if you can manually feed filament directly, just to understand if there’s something blocking the path through the extruder (like you were doing a cold-pull)

also check if the nozzle is properly seated

OK, trying to pull out the nozzle, but it doesn’t want to come.

Also, trying to unload filament it complains about a cutter issue, cutter jammed or missing. [TC2856] although the filament was cut and could be pulled out.

sounds like there is filament broken in the path, check this out - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=if-nCylay-g

OK, found a stub of filament in top of the hot head, but can’t get the head out to get a grip on it.

Check the video I sent it shows the person opening it up, or search YouTube as there might be more videos to help you go through it

The video was very helpful, gave me confidence to undo the upper half of the unit, clean up the gear, remove part of the blockage. Removing the hot end was more of a problem, but got there after looking at the Creality page on changing the hot end. I was them able to grab the end of the filament in the hot end and pull it out.

I’ve now performed the load sequence, with vast amounts of extruded filament, then printed one of the built-in options, supposedly some kind of tool for manipulating the tubes? Printer now deemed to be working OK.

Next thing is to try something for real.

Many thanks!
