So, I’ve had my printer for about 2 weeks now and it suddenly stopped extruding… i thought it was a dodgy nozzle so i replaced it… it didn’t work, then i thought maybe the extruder is blocked, i took it apart and nope, nothing wrong.
I have no idea whats wrong, when i push my pta into the tube the thing doesn’t grip it, i can pull it out easily without any force even after i extrude (nothing comes out)
does anyone know how i can fix this? I’ve had nothing but trouble since buying this printer!
thank you for your time.
update: when i push a cleaning needle up the nozzle while hot some filiment does come out but only a small amount, keep in mind this is a new nozzle!
Does the filament you pull out have teeth marks on it?
Some bits of broken filament can find its way into your new nozzle, creating a minor blockage. I say minor because you don’t have to go into full blown “Clog Recovery Mode”, getting the drill and torch out!
One thing to check: The extruder itself. If you feel confident taking it apart, do it.
Things you are looking for:
-that there are teeth on the wheels;
-that nothing is broken
-that the wheels themselves are actually centered in the unit (my 1st set wasn’t, creating a dead spot)
-that the gap allows for the filament to pass
I solved the issue by buying a DXC extruder after my 3rd Creality version crapped out. Low quality junk, really.
And if your situation doesn’t improve: a 1/16" drill bit (is 1.6mm, fyi…well 1.5875 if you want to be accurate)
Don’t use a dull bit, PLA is like concrete.
And above all: Be careful!
Pulling a broken drill bit out of your hand sucks!
Hope it helps!
