So I’m convinced at this point nearly that a proper sacrifice is necessary to get a clean retraction to change a spool out lol. Every time I’ve tried it through the screen (painfully slow at 30mm) or even through fluid 100mm@10mm/sec, either the filament (regardless of type) doesn’t even seem to move, or likes to jam. I’ve had to take the extruder apart and nozzle out more times than I’d like to admit (although it’s great practice for a newcomer like me) just to unclog lodged pieces of filament in gears. I’m sure it’s me not doing something right but I can’t imagine what. Thanks in advance. <3
when you say “solo spooler” you mean the external reel holder on side of machine ?
When I click retract on the screen I catch hold of the filament between the reel and the PTFE point of entry.
When the nozzle cuts the filament I can feel the extruder push the filament and also give it a light pull to ensure a clean parting.
If you can’t do this then I think there are cutting or extruder issues as you note
Am I misinterpreting this - surely just hit external reel in filament screen and retract button
Ah yes, I mean the external reel holder. Sounds like I am doing something wrong then by hitting the ‘up’ on the screen where the other homing/directional keys are.
TLDR; I’m an idiot. I was doing this all wrong and all of my nozzle clogs can probably be attributed to that. Thank you all for your time and thoughts. <3
