Hi everyone, I haven’t really had time to be a part ot this forum, but I am now looking for some advice. I design custom RV trailers and have use solidworks for over 20 years now and finally decided to get into 3d printing. I have an Ender 3 v3 and the K2 plus and have loved both machines and have print thousands of hours on both. When I started this adventure I used my retired solidworks computer and it has served me well, but the other night the GPU decided to give up the ghost and went to wherever good GPUs go when they pass away. It was a Radeon Pro WX4100 and now im look for a good affordable replacement, what do you computer gurus out there recommend?
I’m using an EVGA Geforce RTX 3700 ftw3 alongside an Intel i7-11700 unlocked. Creality Print actually kicks the graphic card fans on while Slicing…. The set-up can already be considered 4 iterations/years out of date - so really you’re free to buy anything produced in the 2020’s in my opinion. Of course EVGA exited the graphic card market so it’s unlikely you’ll find one new nowadays from them , but any newer Nvidia series 3, 4 or the newest 5 would work - the newer cards are consuming a fair amount of power, so Power Supply might need an upgrade as well - and then ensuring case cooling is acceptable
It has a msi z270 gaming pro carbon motherboard, a new corsair rm750e psu and a cooler master cooler. It’s in a corsair r100 silent case its been a good computer but I think the 3d print slicing has taken a toll on the GPU
well, I’m a fan of MSI for sure…but the z270 is a little out of date too…That power supply will definitely work for the new power you need - the r100 is fine too I think as long as it is ATX sized. What’s your budget? That’s always the next question. If the budget is there, consider the MPG carbon Wifi z790, a new Intel Chip, and your choice of Graphic Card and some DDDR5 memory….but that depends on what ‘good affordable’ means to you…because the above is basically new insides for the case and will run you about $3500
