Help needed: K2 - hotbed not in den right position (too high)

Hello,

I hope someone here can help me. I am completely new to 3D printing and have had the K2 Combo since the beginning of December and have had nothing but problems since then.

Unfortunately, I am a complete beginner and have not printed anything yet. But my hotbed (z-axis) moves too high. It goes all the way up, wants to go even higher, and rocks back and forth 10-20 times at the top until it beeps and the error message cm2789-y appears. Then the head starts to move and hits the bed and the printing plate, and has already scratched it (partly at the rear end). But I can’t get the hotbed down. When I go to manual calibration, it moves all the way down once, then back up and rocks back and forth at the top again. I don’t know what to do and I’m afraid I’ll break the print head if it moves in the x/y axis and hits the hotbed.

In a panic, I simply turned off the printer yesterday using the switch on the back of the device because I was afraid it would break even more.

Please excuse me if I am not yet using the technical terms correctly. In addition to being a beginner, I am also trying to translate everything from German using a translation tool.

Can you help me?

Thank you very much! Mel

Definitely a fault in my opinion. I would send it back and get a new one. DONT put up with Crealitys excuses. Tell them you want a new one or a refund

Hello, I feel sorry, you got unlucky, your printer arrived faulty. Creality tests every single printer. I think the problem must be an obstruction under the hotbed, on one of the rods, a belt or the rail, maybe a screw not well tightened. Turn off the printer and move the head (slowly) all around X/Y and turn the belt below the printer all the way up and down again see if it gets stuck, a belt too tight also can make errors. If you can’t find the issue, I would advise you to contact Creality as soon as possible and take the steps to return the printer, get a refund or ask Creality to send you a new one. I know this is such an endeavor, especially for someone who started his 3D printing journey. I trust Creality because my two printers are from Creality, and I have never had any trouble with them. Don’t wait any longer, Creality has a better after-sales program these days. Merry Christmas.

Hi, do the following checks

The Creality K2 error CM2789-Y means your printer detected abnormal resistance on the Y-axis, likely due to something blocking the hotbed’s movement or a mechanical snag, triggering safety shutdown.

To fix it, check for physical obstructions under the hotbed, check the belt/rail for issues, ensure the hotend cover is secure, and if needed, run recalibration or contact support, as it can stem from a stuck Bowden tube or even a hidden screw.

Troubleshooting Steps:

1.Power Cycle & Restart: Turn the printer off, unplug it, wait a few minutes, then restart and run calibration.

Physical Inspection (Most Common Fixes):

1.Check Under the Bed: Carefully move the hotbed by hand (when the printer is off) to feel for anything lodged underneath. A user found a small screw stuck there.

2.Check the Belt/Rail: Inspect the Y-axis belt and guide rails for any debris, damage, or excessive tension.

3.Hotend/Cutter: Make sure the hotend cover is secure and the cutting module can move freely without hitting the sides.

4.Bowden Tube: A snagged or stuck Bowden tube can cause this error; a wire strap might help secure it.

5.Calibration: After clearing physical obstructions, run a full recalibration from the printer’s menu.

6.Filament Path: Pause printing and check for filament jams or clogs in the nozzle, as this can create resistance.

Advanced (If Needed):

1.Motor Zero Calibration: If issues persist, a G-code calibration to reset the motor’s zero position may be required, often provided by Creality support.

2.Contact Support: If basic troubleshooting fails, contact Creality customer support, as they can provide specific calibration G-codes or guide you through internal checks.

Check this thread also, it might be just a screw that is not fully tight. Before I turned on my K2 Pro, I’ve tightened every single screw in the printer, checked every connection, tightened every ribbon to perfection, lubricated everything, even the ballberings on the rollers, I’ve found only one screw that was not well tightened. Creality have gone a long way to finaly offer a ready to run machine, their quality control is now very efficient.
