Help with Ender 3 V3 KE - error 2194 and Nozzle Wipe anomaly

Hello everyone,

Apologies if this has already been covered elsewhere, I could not find a clear answer to my issue.

I recently bought a second hand Ender 3 V3 KE. When I power it on, it goes through the initial setup, but I am facing two problems.

First issue:

  • On startup, the CR Touch lights up red and deploys and retracts twice, which I assume is part of the height check. The setup then proceeds with nozzle heating and hotbed heating, both complete successfully. During nozzle cleaning, the nozzle touches the bed three times in one spot, then three times in another. After that, I get an error related to measurement override, followed by “Nozzle wipe anomaly”.

Second issue:

  • Sometimes, when I power it on, the CR Touch does not respond at all and does not deploy at all. When this happens, the printer moves to the center of the bed during setup and shows error 2194, unknown exception, with a warning about automatic height anomaly.

What I have tried so far:

  • Firmware update
  • Cleaned the CR-Touch and ensure its not blocked and the pin that deploys moves.
  • look for loose connections all across the printer
  • I dismantled the print head and cleaned the nozzle
  • I checked the 30 pin cable connection, reseated it on both ends, and verified continuity across all pins. The cable appears fine and there are no bent pins on all boards connectors.
  • I also checked the sensor and the board under the heatbed. I did not find any visible damage, wiring looks fine, and there are no signs of water damage or bad solder joints.

Next steps I am considering:

  • Replacing the CR Touch sensor. Most replacements I find are listed for Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro, Ender 3 V2, Ender 5, or CR 10. Can anyone confirm if these are compatible with the V3 KE

  • Replacing the board and sensor under the heatbed

Before I start buying parts, I would really appreciate any advice. Do you think this is likely to fix the issue, or could it be something else

Thanks in advance.

Hi!

Sorry that you’re experiencing issues with your printer. I’m also using the Ender-3 V3 KE and haven’t had any problems with the CR Touch.

I checked the Creality Wiki, and it seems these printers may use the same CR Touch device, but it can vary depending on the installed accessories (see the links below — parts lists for the V3 KE and V3 SE):

Parts List | Ender 3 V3 SE
Parts List | Ender 3 V3 KE

I would still recommend contacting Creality Support for more specific guidance — they should be able to help you better.

Here’s the link: Creality Official Support Center | 3D Printer Help

Let me know if you find a solution.

Best regards,

Krzysztof

Could you confirm if everytime you switch the printer on the CR touch makes the initial pin deploy and retraction?

Yes, it does

Thank you. I think I’ll need to replace the CR-Touch, as mine sometimes does not respond at all when I turn the printer on.

The replacement units I’ve seen online look very similar to the one I currently have, but they are listed for the Ender 3, Ender 3 Pro, Ender 3 V2, Ender 5, or CR-10, and they come with adapters for those models.

Looking at the pictures, though, it seems like it might fit without any adapters. For example, this one: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005009922307776.html

Could anyone confirm whether this CR-Touch would work on the Ender 3 V3 KE?

Thanks!

This is the same device, and it should work with your printer. The set includes all the accessories and adapters for various Creality printers.

Compatibility with the Ender-3 is listed as “Ender-3 Series.” If you check the parts list for the Ender-3 V3 KE on the Creality Wiki, you can see the same parts shown in the product photos from the link you sent.

Quick update, I managed to get the printer working!!!

I had already ordered replacement parts and was about to start swapping them. Before replacing the CR Touch, it suddenly started working normally again and began deploying consistently with no issues.

The only thing I had done beforehand was clean the CR Touch with IPA alcohol and manually move the pin in and out several times to make sure nothing was sticking inside. I do not know for certain if that fixed the issue, but I ended up not needing to replace the CR Touch.

While preparing to replace the sensor under the hotbed, I noticed the metal plate where the sensor mounts was bent slightly on that corner. I removed the plate, carefully straightened it, and reassembled everything using the original sensor.

After that, the printer started working properly again.

I still need to do more testing, but the first prints completed successfully with no errors.

So if anyone else runs into these errors, it may be worth:

  • cleaning the CR Touch with IPA alcohol and ensuring the pin moves freely,
  • checking that the metal plate under the hotbed is completely flat.

Thanks again for all the help!
