After the unexpected death of the hotend in my K1 I bought a Unicorn hotend, thinking that would not have the same problem as the old one.
I received this very fast from a local shop and went along installing it. All went quite well, up t the time I should attach the 3 connectors to the electronic board.
No problem with the heater connector. Also I can attach the connector with the 4 colored wires, But in no way I can attach the white wire with a connectir with two holes. The connectir on the board has 3 pins, if I can trust my old eyes and a strong loupe. Two over three can’t work, or am I wrong? I must say the instruction leaflet is a joke. Much too small font and utterly unclear.
So I hope someone can tell me what I have done wrong.
Hello, depending on the printer version before 2025 and after 2025, the connectors on the boards are different, different connector clips. You may have bought a hotend with a different retainer and it didn’t fit you. You can also try to cut off excess plastic from the “dad” connector and insert it into the “mom” connector and fix it with b7000 glue.
Take a photo so that it is more understandable and you can suggest solutions to problems.
thanks for your answer. I did take some pictures, but see only a button to insert a video.
However, I think now that I was wrong how I tried to insert that (thermosensor?) connecctor. I see that just to the right of the heater connector are two pins with the label ADC.TH, and that I think is the correct position for the two holes connector.
The other (3 pins) connector is labelled FILAMENT, and it is not used!
As I said, if only Creality would write better descriptions, that would help me a lot.
All clear now, after the correct installation the K1 worked again for about half a minute, only to stop again with sign of a blocked hotend. I thought that would not be possible with the Unicorn
Oh well, have to tear it to parts again. But I can almost do it in sleep.
