K1 max CFS chewing up my filament, This is driving me insane!?

Hey everyone,

I’m having a really frustrating issue with my K1 Max. At every colour change, the extruder gears are grinding up the filament, leading to jams and failed prints. I’ve gone through several rolls of filament trying to troubleshoot, and I’m at my wit’s end!

Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

Cleaning the nozzle to make sure there isn’t a clog (multiple times!)

Adjusting the nozzle temperature (up and down in increments)

Changing the filament flow rate

Trying different brands and types of filament and making sure they are dry

Nothing seems to work! The grinding always happens right the exit of the CFS unit

Has anyone else experienced this with their K1 Max, or have any ideas what might be causing it? Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Have you adjusted the tension on the extruder?

How would you go about doing that? And would it help because it’s the CFS unit that’s chewing the filament each time?

There should be screw you can adjust at leaver arm, are you using update unicorn nozzle? I think if you’re using first gen hotend that may not be compatible.

Yeah I am indeed using the new unicorn nozzle set-up! I’ll look into the tension screw! :+1:t3:
