K1 suddenly stops extruding filament.

Hello Community,

I’ve been having the following issue with my K1 for a few weeks now:
While printing, the extrusion suddenly stops after an unspecified amount of time, and the printer continues to move without extruding anything. After that, I have to remove the extruder and pull out the filament because it gets stuck inside the extruder. The extruder applies so much force to one point of the filament that it flattens it and it gets jammed there.

I’ve already tried and replaced quite a few things:
• First, I replaced the nozzle (without success)
• Then I replaced the entire hotend (without success)
• Now I’ve replaced the extruder (still no success)

I’m slowly running out of ideas. I hope someone here has had this problem before or can help me out.

Best regards,
Stefan

Hi
The fact this prints then jams after a while could be due to a failing hotend cooling fan.
If the fan fails then the heat will build up further up the nozzle softening the filament, this can cause a jam.
If you can check the fan whilst a print is taking place.
Good luck

Hi Kevin,
that sounds plausible … I ordered a new fan today. Hopefully it will arrive next week, so that I can have a try with it.
I will give you an update here after the first try.
Best Stefan

So finally I got my spare fan today.

As I have to disassemble the whole Extruder, I made some pictures of the jammed filament.

A few minutes ago I finished the replacement at my printer. Now I give it a try. Pushing thumbs.
