M.C. Escher inspired model

Just wanted to share a model I found and printed the other day. I’ve always like M.C. Escher’s art and came across this model on Makerworld (Search: Relativity (M. C. Escher) ). I used black PLA and it turned out great. It’s the only roll other than my PETG that had enough to complete this print. PETG would be overkill.

The only thing I don’t like about it is the black color. It really hides the details unless there is a lot of light. I tried to think of a color that would accentuate the detail and the model on Makerworld is marble PLA. I think it looks great and bought some. Can’t wait for it to get here. I’ll post up some side by side pictures after it’s printed out. In the mean time enjoy the black PLA version:

The second picture is as printed. Needs supports (I always use trees). ,2 layer height, 15% sparse infill triangle patten, 3 wall loop with the outer wall speed at 50mm sec (inners 75).

@John_Anderson Nice! how about gluing a few little people on the stairs to really drive home the illusion?

A little mist from a spray can and you can make that great model any color you want.

I actually printed it out in rock PLA. Looks great. Still need to print out my little men.

What a spectacular print. Just for grins, how long did it take and what printer did you use?

Thanks, I’m very pleased the way they both turned out.

It’s on my modified Ender V3 KE. .12 height I slowed down the print speed as I find my KE prints a lot better at slower speeds. It can print at it’s max and when I prototype I use that just to get it out and see how my design fits and is what I want. On model prints such as this and anything I’m going to display or some mechanical gadget I slow it down. This print is about 6 hours

Thank you, I believe that any FDM system produces better results when slowed down. Considering all the movements the extrusion system is “asked” to perform, it’s not hard to understand why.
