Hello, everyone, new user here.
Does anyone know where to locate the MAC ADDRESS of the wifi card for the K2 PLUS? When I go to Settings→ General → About this printer, there’s a MAC Address that shows at the third row of the display, but I’m almost positive that that’s the MAC Address for the Ethernet card at the back, I.E. the one for the ethernet cable. Since I’m trying to set up the wifi connection at work, I need to know the MAC Address of the machine so that the IT guys can give me access to the network.
Thanks in advance.
That should be the wifi mac address. When I looked my printer on my wifi network, it showed that as the mac address.
… be aware that when you do a Firmware Update the MAC-address changes…
@Shelbyj if the printer is not connected to a network the MAC-address will not show up…
@pcamelo if the IT Guys is to stupid to find out the MAC-Address the company defenitely needs another IT Guys…
Thanks a lot! I’ll give that info to them, then.
Heh. In all fairness, they didn’r even look. They just asked me to find it before they started checking as per protocol. But thanks for letting me know that the MAC ADDRESS may change after a firmware update. If I lose connectivity after one of those, I’ll know where to look.
Thanks again!
Wait, so you are on a network with lots of other users? If so be wary that if anyone finds the printers fluidd page they can do bad stuff. Be careful.
Had my K1 for 2.5 years. I access it via wifi through a router with Mac filer turned on so it has it’s Mac address on the white list. If the printer ever changed it’s Mac address I would lose connectivity and that simply hasn’t happened through every update they pushed to me. If they really have started doing that then it is insane.
If you have a laptop, connect to the printer, Then open a command line on the laptop and type
arp /a
Find your printers IP number and you will see it’s Mac address.
Thanks a lot for the warning!
Thanks for the tip. The printer must be in another subnet because I can’t see its IP address with the arp /a command from my laptop.
