Give me a reason why I should root my K1C. I haven’t had it for very long, and honestly I’m pretty happy with the results so far. Even Creality Print has been kind of a revelation to me in terms of performance.
That said, I’ve been out of the 3D printing game for years — last time I was active I was using a CR20 Pro with PrusaSlicer — so maybe I just haven’t spent enough time with the K1C yet.
Maybe the small issues and annoyances just haven’t shown up yet… so convince me: why should I root it?
Klipper adaptive meshing and purging is good as it limits the aera of the bed that is scanned during bed leveling and the purge line is a lot better than the normal single line .
Also I have installed a tplink wifi switch to shut down the printer when a print has completed. You require an addition to moonraker and an additions macro to printer.cfg file for the wifi switch.
Also macos are included that are better then the one supplied by creality to configure bed levelling, linear advance and camera control.
Well I’m of the opinion that if you are not missing any feature for your workflow there’s no reason at all to root it and install random stuff just because you can
If you’re getting solid and consistent prints, just keep going as you are, no reason to tinker unless that’s your main interest of course
Thanks, Bill B that’s definitely worth considering, especially the adaptive meshing and purging. I hadn’t considered using a switch yet either.
This has really got me thinking.
Thanks so much to you as well! I’ll let this post sit for a bit and see what else comes in. In the meantime, I’ll keep exploring my system and weighing my options
