I’ve been trying to print with PETG filament all day, but there’s no way to get it to work. I tried various temperature settings, but nothing helped. My printer was running firmware V1.1.2.6, so I decided to roll back to V1.1.1.7 by copying the V1.1.1.7 file onto a USB stick and renaming it to V1.1.2.7.
I turned off the printer, powered it back on, and it prompted me to update the firmware. After installation and recalibration, I started a print job—and it finally worked! So far …
I’m not sure. The printer starts off fine, the first and second layers are okay, but then it seems like the nozzle doesn’t lift enough and starts causing problems. In the end, I couldn’t print what I wanted—I stopped the print and turned it off because I ran out of patience.
We will need more information to be able to help at all. What is the problem exactly? Does the printer stop itself and present some error code? Do you have a photo of the model after it fails?
I fixed the problem by replacing the extruder spring. The original spring was too strong, which caused frequent extruder clogs, and I had to clean it constantly. Then I replaced the original spring with another one, but it turned out to be too weak. Now I’ve installed a stronger one, and it seems to be working fine. No more extruder clogs, PETG prints perfectly, and PLA is great too. So, for now, everything seems to be working fine.
