Had to slow my K1 down to get a decent print and reduce the vibration.
Checked out everything and discovered movement in the print head carriage, it was loose on the horizontal rods, the bronze bushes had worn out and became loose.
I can’t understand why Creality put bushes in the X axis and linear bearings in the y axis, so decided to convert the X axis to linear bearings.
As the bearing are ID 8mm OD 15mm length 45mm and would not fit into the present X axis carriage, I printed out one with these dimensions, for the new bearings.
Also the present rod are 10mm in diameter, I also purchased two 8mm diameter hardened steel rods along with the new LM8LUU bearings,(don’t get stainless steel rods, the metal is to soft and will wear out very quickly).
Decided to keep the Y axis carriers as they already have linear bearings fitted, just had to make up a couple of spacers to reduce the 10mm hole in them to 8mm for my new rods.
Put brass threaded inserts into the new x axis carriage, linear bearings slotted installed it all together.
Wow what a difference it has made really lovely prints and quite as a mouse now, well worth the trouble of putting it together.
Cost of parts 4 linear bearing and two hardened steel rods £23.98, the brass inserts I already had.
Next project is to put 8mm drive belts in.
If you don’t fancy doing it this way, you can purchase a kit already made up ready to slot in yourself, for about £160.00.
