With all the talk about rooting your printer, I decided to give it a go and I’m glad to say, it was easier
than I imagined. loads of videos on how to do it on the web.
I needed to do it as I wanted to put 20 teeth pulleys on the drive motors, this was a pain as the old pulleys are really held on tight to the motor shaft, I used a hacksaw to make cuts on each side of the drive shaft, that eased off the pressure on the shaft and the old pulleys came off easily.
There’s discussion about the 6mm pulleys jumping teeth, due to the extra torque, from the smaller
pulleys, to overcome this concern I decided to install the 8mm timing belts, as these are to wide for the normal 20 tooth Pulleys, I ordered 10mm 20 tooth pulleys from ebay.
It’s all now installed and running just fine, just done a 14 minute benchy and I’m very happy with the results.
