Starting my Ender Journey

Hi.

My journey started into 3D printing a couple of years ago with the Bambu X1C (Please don’t hate me )

I have recently gained a couple of Ender 3 V2, V3, Neo (I’m still trying to work out what they are.

I’m very technical minded and in my 50’s, so taking on these Enders is now taking me down the “How FDM Printers work” road.

The Bambu take all that away and I have enjoyed using them so far. Anyway! After getting these 2 Ender FDM printers it’s sparked my interest in how they work. A good friend passed away and his wife has let me take them to keep them running in his name :folded_hands:t3: I will get some picture together and post them on here if anyone is able to give me some advice on what they are or point me in the right direction to research myself :folded_hands:t3:

One printer is working well. The other ons I can’t get past the boot screen. So I think my best bet is to identify them both first (They are probably heavily modified) then that should help me decide my way forward.

The working one I believe is an Ender 3 V2 or Neo.

The second on I think is an Ender 3 V3 and I can’t get past the screen in the picture.

Any help will be fantastic. :folded_hands:t3:

Image 4 is a BigTreeTech E3 V3 control board (Very Good) and image 5 is a BigtreeTech TFT 35 E3 v3 dual mode display. This combination is generally used to modify Ender 3 , Ender 3 V2 or Ender 5 printers.

You may need to learn how to configure Marlin firmware to modify or add to this board.

The TFT 35 display can be used in Marlin mode typical on Ender3 printer or in graphic mode with touch screen in bigtreetch mode.

To use either mode you have to connect the ribbon cable and the serial cable from the display.

The printers are not Ender V3.

Much appreciated Bill Thank You :folded_hands:t3:

I’m sure I can handle a firmware upgrade but I will do my research first.

This is one of the reasons I initially did not get into 3D printing a long time ago, but seeing as I’m retiring on Friday  I’ll now have some time to get into it, albeit a little late  I also have a lot of other parts as well, like a Sprite Extruder Pro kit and another touch screen running on a raspberry pie. So plenty of options by the looks of it. There is also third printer as well but I could not identify that one at all. His wife told me it was his baby, so I’m expecting it to have a better tech standard once I start looking into it.

I am tempted to look at building a laser or CNC machine out of some of the parts. But for now I will stick to learning more about the functionality of these printers and getting them to work.

I’lll have to change the name of the post now

Thanks again Bill for your response.

Kind Regards

Mark
