Hi Everyone,
New to 3d printing and I’m playing with my new Creality K1 printer. I’m using tinkercad to draw my objects, then export them to STL’s for import into Creality’s slicer.
However, I’ve noticed that my object is not slicing correctly in Creality, but it is slicing correctly in Prusa slicer. You can see it in the screen shots below.
Here is layer 16 where it all goes wrong in the Creality slicer:
And this is what layer 16 should look like, from Prusa slicer:
Here’s my complete STL file:
slicer test.stl (739.7 KB)
Could anyone tell me where to start looking for what I’ve done wrong? I’d prefer to use the Creality slicer as the prints come out much better with it, even though I’m pretty sure I’ve copied over all the correct settings for the K1.
Thank you,
Tim
Hello @7604timo
Welcome to the Creality Forum…!
I checked your stl and it worked fine on Creality Print.
The warning message you are getting in the yellow pop up (bottom left) means that the model is not laying on the bed flat and it needs supports. Somehow Creality Print turned it upside down..? Turn the model so the flat side is down.

Turn off lite mode. It hides the infill by default in case you have a crappy pc. Lite mode is on the preview screen above the line type list. It will print - just not display.
Hi @jimandyen
Thank you for your reply - I don’t think Creality print does have it upside down as the very top layer looks correct:
However, going with your idea I used the ‘orient’ tool to reduce supports and Creality print angled the object at 45 degrees and it looks like it’s sliced it properly this time:
Do you think this would print OK? Looks a bit precarious to me!
Thank you,
Tim
Hi @LoriAnneBrown
Thank you for your suggestion. When I click on the ‘lite’ toggle, then model goes back to ‘prepare’ mode, then when I click on ‘slice’ again, the ‘lite’ toggle is back on. It won’t seem to turn off.. I’m running v7.0.0.4127 if that helps..
Thank you,
Tim
I only saw where you had layer 16 so I couldn’t get a good idea of the orientation.
It’s a pretty quick print so you might want to go ahead and print it laying flat to see how it does using supports.
Also you can paint extra supports where it might need them.
Odd. I’m running the same version and have it turned off no problem.
Thanks @jimandyen and @LoriAnneBrown ..
Whilst I had tried removing and re-installing Creality Slicer before, I tried again and this time told it to remove all previous settings. This seems to have fixed it, although I can’t imagine what setting would have created the issue in the first place.
Nevermind - it’s all working perfectly now, thank you for your patience,
Tim
