Why I love 3D printing

It’s gone midnight and I’ve just realised I need four 10x15mm “standoffs” for a notice board I’m fitting tomorrow.

Ordinarily I’d have to

  1. get up early
  2. drive to a DIY shop
  3. drive to ANOTHER DIY shop that actually has them in stock.
  4. either pay a fortune for the four I need OR order 100x more than I need to get the price down.
  5. drive home.

None of that. Two minutes in Tinkercad, White PETG in the K2+and they’ll be waiting for me tomorrow when I wake! And if I HAVE got the size a little wrong, it’ll be annoying, but not as annoying as points 1-5 above!

I love 3D printing too that is why I have more machines than I need. One thing I note is that Orca slicer makes things a smidge small. I have found that it needs to be 100.9% sized to be correct I think that latest Creality Print does the same.

Hello @Bonfireman ,

I don’t doubt that it does (havn’t needed test it actually), but do you have any guess as to why that happens.
I would guess there might me a reason, but I have no idea why.

Cheers.

No idea, just know that I had to make a part that was Ø36.3mm but printed at Ø35.97, consistantly on more than one printer so it wasn’t printer centric.
