Here's a photo of the rubber shield I wrote about, in case there's any confusion.
And here's a photo of the extruder before I pulled the solidified filament out.

Is it possible to add new filament types to Creality Slicer? In particular, I want to create an entry for PLA+.
The rubber shield that covers the heating element (is that what it's called?) letting the nozzle come through a hole has become detached from the heating element. How can I securely reattach it?
Background: When I loaded filament into my Ender-5 Plus for the second time, something went wrong and I ended up with melted (and re-solidified) filament accumulating found the heating element. I managed to pull it out, but the rubber shield came out with it.
Re: Ender-5 Plus only thinks it's printing
It looks as though I'm well on my way to having my first successful print on my Ender-5 Plus. I haven't gotten it to work on the two maze models that come on the memory card with the printer, but I did get it to work on a competitor's sample model (I may be overly optimistic -- it's not done yet). Weird. I haven't changed anything obvious in what I'm doing.
If you're curious, the model I'm working with is Lulzbot's Rocktopus.
Anyway, the original question still stands, at least in modified form: Why won't the maze models in particular print for me?
I feel a bit like an idiot for asking this question, but the binder clips seem an odd choice for holding the printing bed assembly together. Is that what they're doing, or is there some other reason for having them?
Thanks in advance.
My Ender-5 Plus is making a squealing noise when its bed moves up or down. Is this likely to be an alignment issue of some kind, a need for lubrication, or something else entirely?
Thanks in advance.
I have had my Ender-5 Plus for a couple of years, but initially had some trouble getting it to work and then got distracted. It's been sitting unused for almost all of the time I've owned it. I'm trying to change that.
I may be close to getting it to work properly, but I'm not there yet. I'm trying to print the maze models that come on the SD card as a test. As Creality suggests, I'm doing the print offline. I use Slicer 1.2.3 to load the model, then I use File/Save GCode... to save the gcode file to my SD card. The 8x8 maze gives me a 323K file; the 10x10 gives me a 995K file. Slicer reports that the model will take an hour and seven minutes to print, and use 3.25 meters of filament (10 grams) using the "fast" profile, "Common PLA" as the type of filament, and Ender-5 as the model of printer. I move the SD card from my computer to the printer.
Using the printer's touchscreen, I choose Print and then select one of the files (either maze-8x8 or maze-10x10). I tap the Print button, and the printer goes through automatic levelling. Then it soon reports that it's done, although it hasn't actually printed anything. The only movement is for the automatic levelling, so it's not a filament feed issue. The temperature of the nozzle and the bed vary in what seems an appropriate way during the process.
What am I doing wrong here? Thanks in advance for your help.
I bought an Ender 5 Plus a couple of weeks ago, and have been slowly assembling it. I have now finished, but I have a couple of problems that may be related. First: I'm unable to manually level the printer. Using the knobs under the build platform, I can only get the nozzle to within about 1 or 2 mm of the bed. I noticed that if the knobs are all set to about the same setting, the bed is slightly (a couple of mm) tilted to the left or right (I don't remember which).
Second problem: When the printer bed moves up or down, it makes a squealing sound... a very loud and continuous squeak.
Help! Thanks in advance.
