Ender 6 printer question.

I am new to 3D printing, so assume I know next to nothing about this.

I have a new Ender 6 unit. I am having trouble printing anything at all. If I use the touch screen, I can move the print head in X and Y directions, and the platen along the Z axis. I can also manually feed filament and have it extrude through the head. But if I try to print a gcode file using the SD card slot, the printer jingles and then dies completely on me. I tried to print one of the Benchy models from Thingiverse. The only way to resurrect the printer is to turn power off and then back on.

I am pretty sure that the SD card reader is fine, because I updated the printer firmware using the card. My printer does not have BLTouch, so I used the End-Stop firmware.

What could I be doing wrong that all the parts work fine individually, but not together?

I ordered one in mid Nov 2020, received it near end of Dec 2020. My understanding was they receive a few at a time, if you get in when they have it, they will ship one within a few days. Most of the time was in transit.

Now if only I could get my printer to work
