2025 K1C: Removing Root Access is a Dealbreaker

I recently purchased the new “2025” revision of the K1C. I am extremely disappointed to find the “Root Account” menu has been removed.

The primary selling point of the K1 series was access to native Klipper. By locking this down, you have removed the only advantage this machine had over a “walled garden” like Bambu Lab.

Without root, I am unable to:

  1. Use OrcaSlicer integration effectively (Device tab).

  2. View basic diagnostics like the Bed Mesh visualization.

  3. Verify or tune my own printer configuration.

Please restore the Root Access menu in the next firmware update. If I wanted a locked ecosystem, I would have bought a P1S.

I didn’t know they removed root access, thanks for sharing this I won’t do any firmware updates from now on. Can someone from creality shed some light on why this was removed? I really like creality printers, but this is indeed a deal breaker. I hope someone will find an exploit so we can work around this.

I am in the process of looking at new Creality printer, finally upgrading from an Ender3 V3 KE. Removing root access which I use for things like Spoolman integration is a deal breaker for me. Guess I’ll look at Qidi printers instead.

I did not find out until I received mine, anybody want to buy a printer? It was a huge mistake to buy a K1C.

Are you in Europe? You have 14 days to return by law if i’m not mistaken

I agree with you 100%. Root access was the main reason I bought the K1C. I didn’t try to gain root access right away and now i cant return it.

Root access to the 2025 is possible with exploits, and there are signs that Creality are planning an official unlock method. It might take some time but hope is not lost!
