Dedicated section for the Creality flagship K1 Max, and all topics related to these models.
Hi Everyone, I have had my K1 Max about two months after selling my Ender 5 Pro and while I realise that the original versions of the K1 series had some issues my K1 Max has been brilliant out of the box. It is reliable and fast and I have had no issues with clogging, feeding or anything else. I mainly print ABS for functional parts and it is just load and print. I use the smooth print surface that came with the printer and do not use glue stick. I have designed and installed a hinged lid raise assembly, which has enabled me to remove the bowden guide tube from the last clip before the extruder to ease the curve into the extruder. Like most I have moved the spool holder from the back to the right side. Other than that a brilliant machine with no issues.
Whoops, spoke too soon. After printing reliably and well for 2 months my K1 Max suddenly developed a curious fault. It would print well but when doing a full bed level it would sense the four corners and then run off the bed to the right, hitting the travel stops hard. I reasoned (eventually) that it must be software related so I tried to flash a new copy of the same firmware but this is not possible it seems. So downloaded the previous firmware from Creality and flashed my printer. It then immediately offered to update to the latest firmware (the same as I had) and that is what I did. I am pleased to say that this fixed the anomaly and so all back to normal. I hope this helps someone. Regards to all.
Hello @bilmar789020 …! ![]()
Welcome to the Creality Forum…! ![]()
Glad you like that K1 Max. Got one also… Had a few issues but for the most part it’s doing great.
Your hinge cover looks good. Very convenient.
My K1 Max is about fourteen months old, gets light use (maybe two or three prints a month) and the power supply’s died in the middle of a print. Sang the thing’s praises for the majority of that time. (It’s my first 3d printer.) Now I can’t find a vendor that sells a replacement PSU, to bring the K1 back to life, anywhere in North America except for the scalper on Amazon.. I’m shopping its replacement from the competition. I’m quite disappointed with the poor quality of the PSU..
It can happen.
I used Aliexpress 24V PSU for years on my printer. Try finding Meanwell PSU.
Thank you, kind stranger. I did order a MeanWell PSU. It’s going through customs now. Hopefully that will revive my K1 Max. If it doesn’t, I’m throwing the Creality product away. It becomes landfill.
If it is a PS issue, Meanwell will manage don’t worry.
Don’t give up on Max, it is good printer when print settings are sorted out.
Other companies have issues as well……
Thanks. I’m at this point with it today:
I should mention that the replacement 24V PSU from Meanwell (via AliExpress) has its mounting holes in the wrong place. I’m out another $80 on the K1 Max.
Easy fix for that, make an adapter plate. you might be out $2 more bucks, but it’ll save you 80
