Adhesion Probelm

New to 3D printing here. I was gifted a used Ender 6 printer. I have been able to print smaller/medium things such as the Classic Boat, Small Gecko, PS5 controller holders, etc. I never had an issue with the printer.

Recently, I had to clean the nozzle. I removed the nozzle cleaned it and placed the nozzle back in according to some recommendations on the internet. After reinstalling the nozzle, I re-leveled the bed via the ‘paper method’ due to not having any feeler gauges.

Now when I attempt to print anything, the first layer does not want to stick to the bed. I have not tried to layer on any adhesive because it was working fine until I took it apart….. What I have initially tried to do to find a solution to the lack of adhesion:

Trying to use PLA Filament:

  • Nozzle Temp: 200 C
  • Bed Temp: 60 C
  • Cleaned the Bed with soap and water, also with alcohol
  • Reduced the 1st layer speed
  • Checked the extruder is feeding properly
  • Releveled the bed multiple times

I have played with temperature settings, on both the bed and nozzle, tried various speeds of printing. As a novice in this, I am relatively lost.

Any help would be great!

Do you know how old the build plate is? Might try a new one. I suspect your z-offset is not low enough after the nozzle change. Heat your nozzle and bed and check. Let them heat soak for 10 minutes or so before checking.

Not sure on the age of the build plate. I thought the Z Off set could be a problem, but this printer did not come with a BLTouch or CR Touch to help with the Z Off-Set so I was leveling the bed w/ the paper method and hoping for the best. I will try your recommendations.
