After firmware up date, Falcon A1(non-pro) no longer connects

I’ve verified that all my laptop usb ports are working. The falcon design software doesn’t recognize the engraver. The cable has been verified good. I tried using a flash drive to reinstall the firmware. The engraver wont go into “update” mode. I’m really hoping that my Falcon hasn’t been bricked.

What happens when you plug it in (which OS?) like does something show in the device manager if it’s Windows for example?

My OS is windows 11. Nothing happens when I plug the falcon in. Its like the port on the machine is dead.

In this case write the support: support@crealityfalcon.com

Hi, im also having this issue. What was the fix if not through support? I just got mine today and cant get it to connect for the life of me.

Also an A1? Does it show any signs of a connection attempt like a device connected sound when plugging it in or anything showing up in the device manager?
The machine otherwise turns on normally and you’ve also tried some other USB cable (any decent USB type C cable that also works to transfer files from your phone and therefore is a data cable should work).

Approximately a month ago, the FDS + Falcon A1 worked flawlessly. I was using a Surface Pro 4 with windows 11 on it. As of today, since being prompted to update to 1.9.2, the software does not recognize a connection to the device. However, I can see the device connected via a COM# port and I can also get it to connect using third party software LaserGRBL. The windows device makes the connection noise and disconnect noise when I unplug and plug back in the USB cable. I’ve tried the supplied USB cable as well as a known, high end, USB cable. I’ve uninstalled, cleared the cache of, and reinstalled across three versions 1.8.2, 1.9.1, and 1.9.2. It’s worth mentioning, this was working fine with 1.9.1 a month or so ago. I’ve also completed all of these steps on a completely difference windows device, a high end ASUS laptop and I’m experiencing the same issues. This is either a windows fault, an FDS fault, or a combination of both. I must say, the excitement I had at how quickly and easily this worked for what I needed to use it for was high up until today. My entire manufacturing process, as it is right now, depends on this thing working. The fact that it isn’t is making me regret ever purchasing it. I have submitted a ticket and I honestly doubt the issue will be addressed or corrected in a short amount of time just based off of the experience I had with the support person to even get the ticket submitted.

After going through literally everything, I completely turned off Windows Defender for everything. No firewall, no app protection, and everything else that had an off switch. The connection works now. Windows Defender is literally blocking the serial connection in the app to the device.

Are you sure it was Windows Defender? If you had LaserGRBL open maybe it still claimed the COM port. This is way more common.

Yes, very sure. I had changed com port assignments and even uninstalled LaserGRBL.

To this point, it seems the app is no longer Digitally Signed? Was it ever digitally signed?

I bought a Falcon A10 Pro a month ago and to date have not made a single engrave or cut with it. It will not connect to Design Space to do any updates etc. any PC or Mac I own, (several) except for one…with any cable I own (many, include the supplied one) and ONLY works with Lightburn and ONLY when I connect it through a powered USB hub - which directly contravenes the manual advice.
I reported to Support and got the same repeated advice over and over, have you checked this, watch this or that YT video, try only our own cable (really?) and got frustratingly nowhere. I got no useful advice whatsoever, and no explanation why it refused to connect to my wifi. (Tick, but exclamation in the wifi symbol).

They sent me a new main board and got exactly the same problem so it’s an inherent fault.

We are at the point where I have to send it back and get a refund or replacement, but it tool a good week of angry frustrated emails to get there. I’m not sure I want a replacement, but I like the laser and want to do lasering. So this is their last chance to get it right.

So - Customer Services not so good, in my experience anyway.

Same issue here. I’m on a Mac, I can see the camera is available and I can use Lightburn, just not the software provided by the manufacturer of my laser engraver. Same issue with customer support, I just keep getting told to make sure I have the latest version and to try another USB cable (spoiler…it’s not either of those two).

*UPDATE* i GOT IT WORKING

I deleted falcon design, installed Lightburn and setup the A1 with that. I then closed it and installed Falcon Design 1.8.0. That found the A1 and then updated the software and it works fine

I have just bought the A1, set it up yesterday. It all connected fine with the falcon design but as soon as it did the firmware update it won’t connect. Its now a paper weight. The computer registers it’s plug in and connected. It seems more of a Falcon software issue. Does anybody have an answer yet???
