All the gear and no idea :-)

Hi, first post so hopefully I’ve placed it the right section.

I’ve been gifted a modified Ender 3 ver2 and have been having fun riding the steep learning curve and turning things on the screen into physical items. Most have been boxes so have resulted in reasonable prints using the default setting in Creality Print (Ver3 as my printer wasn’t listed in the current V5 software)

However, a friend sent me a file of a figure that he asked if I could try and print. Well lets just say it’s not gone well. I even downloaded Cura as I thought it might be software related but the results are the same, and whilst Cura may have millions of options to control things to the Nth degree - I haven’t a clue what does what.

This is what I’m getting, and that is after clean up

Now I’m guessing this is more a thing that suits being printed in resin, and to ask a filament printer to print this small (less than 40mm tall) figure is pushing it beyond its capabilities ? - but if there is an idiots guide to what settings I should be using to print this in PLA and get a decent result, please point me in the right direction.

The arrow shows your hotend first extrusions.
Use better filament, use standard settings for “fine” and put the speed to 50% on the display.
Hyperpla is a good idea, leave the door open.
Anyway, this is indeed a work for an MSLA (resin) printer. You could get it a tiny little bit better, with fdm, but not much.

Many thanks for the reply. I’ll let my friend know its not suited to this medium.
