Started a print and went to bed. Woke up to a finished print and a hot printer. Turns out the printer was heating the bed and chamber all night.
Please add a shut off when print finishes feature.
My old QIDI X-Plus has this option.
Sure this isn’t a USER ERROR? All my printers stop heating hotend/bed/chamber after print is finished!
Did you change the END-Gcode of CP?
Thanks for the insult but, according to AI Creality does not have such a feature.
QIDI has it as a machine function on the UI.
Creality printers like the Ender 3 series do not have a built-in automatic shut-off feature after a print completes, requiring users to implement third-party solutions for this functionality.
There was an Error that the print did not finish due to out of range Y Axis. But it did finish the print.
Yes, Possibly the End gcode is changed. I changed it in Orcaslicer and it worked fine. But I used Creality Print Slicer for this print. I assume the gcode is the CP End gcode.
I would not have even asked and would have investigated further but when AI said there is not auto shut off I had to ask.
On my Creality Hi, once a print is finished, the bed and nozzle go to ambient temp.
I think I/we found the problem.
Afterall I did thank Mr MBR for the insult so I guess it is the honorable thing to do to thank him again for the insult. It is sorta USER ERROR!!! AI is to blame though.
I did not realize that somewhere along the way of bouncing from Prusaslicer to Orca to CP (now that CP has paint on Fuzzy Skin) I inserted an AI generate End gcode. I thought I only applied it to Orca. It is a gcode that stupid AI gave me that never worked. The Y Axis was set to 350 and the bed is only 300. So I figured it out in Orca slicer and fixed it but never checked CP until now.
I was relying on AI saying that Creality does not shut down after a finished print. AI has saved me efficiently a number of times but I have had to correct it many times too.
I haven’t run a print since correcting the End gcode but I’m confident that is the problem and I will mark this solved so as to not take up anyone else’s time.
So, say Human Error for listening to AI.
Wow, Good catch!
Definetively I.A. can only generate broken code
However, I have to add that it seems the printer does not shut off power. It may go idle but I don’t think it disconnects power like the QIDI. I have to turn it off on the back.
I retract the Solution desitgnation.
The gest of my question still has not been addressed. That is, “Please add a shut off when print finishes feature”.
Am I and AI incorrect that Creality does not have a Power Off feature?
I currently have a couple of Ender-3 V3 printers along with 2 K series units that don’t have an automatic shut-off feature. Adding that option would be a great improvement. In the meantime, maybe you could use a digital timer. We use one for our aquarium lights.
You’re suggestion of using a timer is too simple a solution. I need something more complicated and troublesome like AI suggests some 3rd party software/hardware and learning yet something else.
Congratulations! You just beat AI !
A simple yet absolutely brilliant solution.
Kind of peculiar that all printers do not have this feature. If you have a print farm and 50 printers are left on for hours while not producing, that can add up.
While not a solution it is a hack but, Creality, please add APO. Auto Power Off.
Can this be done in firmware?
I don’t think there’s the need to complicate this in firmware, there are power outlets or UPS (which is what I have) that you can set timer to power off
btw AI is wrong all the time, even worse is that it’s wrong with confidence
always take it with a grain of salt ![]()
Now you mention it I have my Printer (and the external lighting) connected to remote controlled outlets, the ones with a physical remote, I really hate the «domotic» ones requiring a cloud service and wifi.
