Hi! I’m looking for a good flexible filament to use with the Ender 3 V3 Plus. All the ones I’ve purchased keep getting stuck in the gears before entering the nozzle. It kind of rides up the gears towards the top smooth parts and won’t catch.
I prefer Pinuotu TPU. Biggest thing is to lower your retraction distance to less than 1mm. They also make my favoured PETG, having troubles with Tecbear at the moment, think I am running it too hot. Don’t run the TPU too fast, nice and slow and drop the temp a little to prevent stringing and it sticks like anything to PEI build plates so you might consider gluestick as a release agent.
But it’s even having trouble coming out of the nozzle when I try to do a basic extrude.
I tried bypassing the boson tube having it come straight from the top, but still comes out very slow and I almost have to manually push the filament through to get it to come out of the nozzle.
Like it’s just not catching onto the gears in nozzle. Wondering if the filament is too soft?
From what I can gather the 3V3, 3V3+ and K1 machines all use the same extruder, original versions didn’t have a spring tensioner I don’t know if that affected the 3V3/3V3+ machines. Most extruders have a tensioning screw but these ones don’t so I guess the only thing is a stronger spring. I shall do some more digging.
I actually just took it apart and there definitely isn’t a tension screw, I was able to manually feed in the TPU and it latched fine on its own. Once I put it all back together and ran the extruder at 240, it extruded fine. I think it was just having some trouble initially clasping it and feeding it through.
Going back and forth from PLA and TPU might be an issue moving forward, but it’s working for now!
Glad it is sorted. I swap between PLA/TPU/PETG throughout the day and it mostly behaves itself. I will extrude 50-100mm to purge the nozzle when I change reels.
