[Bug/Feature Request] Handle accented characters in G-code file names more gracefully

Hello everyone,

I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I wanted to share an issue I ran into with my K2 Plus Combo and suggest a possible improvement.

My print starts normally — calibration begins — but then it stops with an “unknown error [2514]” (at least that’s the code I got). I couldn’t find much information about it, and it took me quite a while to figure out the cause.

In my case, the problem came from the file name: it contained accented characters (I’m French). It seems that the K2 doesn’t support them. That’s understandable — maybe it’s related to how the controller handles ASCII tables — but it would really help if the printer displayed a clearer error message, or if Creality Print / Slicer could warn or block such file names automatically.

That would save users like me from spending hours troubleshooting something so simple!

Thanks for reading — I hope this feedback reaches the Creality team.

Best regards,

you may wish to read this which references file names in windows as it affect CP gcode

As I said, I’m not asking for a change in the handling of special characters, but at least for the error message to be explicit.

Sorry for my english…

My experience is that if you ensure there are no accents or special characters in the windows file name you are unlikely to get the error message.
