Calibrating Z - just wanted to verify before this offset potentially wreaks havoc

So when you home Z, it starts off 5mm above the plate. With other printers, wherever Z starts off at, we use paper and bring it to where it needs to be near the plate and save that offset value, then do a bed mesh, then check Z again. So that being said, with the k2 starting 5mm above, would it be safe to bring it down for a paper test and then save that offset in the slicer since they want us to do that instead for some reason? When I did mine, it ended up being -5.85 - which would really be -0.85 since it started at 5mm above zero. I don’t want to set it to -5.85 and potentially rip the bed up. I could try -0.85 but I figured rather than FAFO, ask here. Thanks a lot. Trying to get a printer that has spent months doing nothing because if it’s constant failures, working again so it’s not just some major financial loss as it’s been. :frowning:
