Do the spools touch the holders in the valve ?
No problems with elegoo cardboard spool.
Had some problem with sunlu spools when the are almost empty and the are from plastic. That was because the spools ar smaller and dont touch the valve. You can find stl file to fix that.
Not a ton of experience with it, but I have gone through at least 8 cardboard spools (Polymaker) and have had no issues, even with some of the spools having wonky/bent edges. Not nearly as much dust inside the CFS as I expected, but I still check it and clean out occasionally.
Did you find a solution at all? The eSun PLA+ filament is great but the cardboard spools seem to be slightly tighter together and in places the spool sides that are slightly bent inwards cause pinching of the spool channels in the CFS causing it to lift the spool out of place and sends it wonky jamming it. Then the CFS pauses the print due to filament failure.
My solution: i’m not using cardboard spools anymore. Then i found, also some plastic Sunlu spools had a diameter which was smaller than a typical Creality spool, they had problems with retracting. Printed different clips for pushing down the spool. But then, it seems that Sunlu adjusted the size of their spools recently, perfect diameter and “width” of the spool and the “rims”. I’ll just take extra care when buying that the are the right sizes.
Hi, got a Creality Hi Combo and ordered 3 spools Copymaster 3D PETG. As newby I didn’t know about all kind of problems with cardboard spools. The spools of Copymaster are 195 mm, so 5 mm to small for the CFS. I searched for adapter rings but can’t find the right one. Do I need a 195 mm to 200 mm ring? Or would a two-piece screw-together spool adapter be a better option?
If anyone has experience with Copymaster3D spools, I’d really appreciate your advice. Thanks!
I had such bad experience with the cardboard spools that I sent them back. Purchased on Amazon so the return was easy even though I’d used about 1/2 of 1 of the 4 spools I bought.
I am avoiding the cardboard spools at all costs. The cardboard spools seem to be used only for the HYPER PLA. If you get standard Creality PLA or Creality Hyper RFID PLA for example they come on plastic spools without any problems for me. If you want Hyper buy the Hyper RFID and you’ll get a solid plastic spool.
