CFS upgrade kit issues with my K1 printer

Hi, I am trying to install the cfs upgrade kit to my Creality K1, I have installed it but when doing the self checking / leveling is giving me an error saying that filament has been detected in the extruder to unload it before doing a factory reset, there is not filament in the printer or any jam as the filament is extruding just fine, is anyone having the same issue, is there a solution to this, thanks

I have just encountered this very same issue after fitting the upgrade to my K1 Max. I have no filament loaded. There has not been any filament put through the new extruder yet. If I place a piece of filament into the extruder a blue led on top of the extruder lights up.

Many printers are giving the same error, you need to contact Creality and keep contacting them as the CS is slow, i have been waiting for over 1 week and still no solution, i think this is a hardware issue, some sort of problem with the toolhead pcb board or something like that i hope you get it sorted soon my friend

I have sent a support request to Creality Support and contacted them via Facebook Messenger. It is the weekend so probably wont get a response any time soon. Thanks for the reply. At least I now know I am not alone or worrying that I have done something wrong.

Hola, yo tuve el mismo problema despues de imprimir 3 cosas, lo que hice fue desmontar todo el sistema de extrusion, abrirlo y limpiarlo bien, verifique que el pcb estuviera en buen estado y que no estuviera atascado. Despues empezo a funcionar perfectamente.

En mi caso fue facil porque siempre tenia el led azul encendido. Probar a ver si de esta manera solucionan el problema

Here we are a month down the line and still no further forward with solving the issue.
I contacted Creality support and they asked me to supply pictures and a video of the problem which I did.

Their response was to send me the small filament detector board located in the new extruder. I fitted this and it didn’t solve the problem.

I carried out a continuity check on the cable from the extruder to the print head circuit board and all was in order. No open or short circuit. I reported this to Creality Support only for them to respond by sending out a replacement cable.
I fitted the cable and surprise surprise the fault remained.

I reported this back to Creality Support and this was their reply.

Dear Customer,
Your printer(order number:GB00022306) doesn’t come from our shop, please contact the seller to get the new print head board, send an email to cs@creality.com or store@creality.com,they’ll help you.

Why do I feel I am getting the run around?

I can’t even find where I could purchase the control board.

hi my friend, my printer was the same, Creality sent me a new updated PCBA board, I replaced the board and the printer has been working quite well since, I have a Creality K1, you should try to get the PCBA board, that will solve the issues, where are you located?, here is the UK you can get this board from Amazon and also from Aliexpress, it took like 3 weeks for Creality to solve my printer, thanks

Hi there. Thanks for the prompt reply. I am in the UK. I have suspected the board you mention but Creality Support have not taken any notice of me. I read somewhere that there was an updated board. I have ordered a board from Amazon that will be with me on Monday. Looking at the photographs of it, it looks identical to the one I have. I was wondering if my board had a redundant fault that only manifested itself when using the spare port. I have not had a reply from the new email address they sent me. Looking at the spare parts list contained in the WIki this board is not even shown as an available part. I will post an update when I have fitted the new board.

OK, here is an update. I took the advice of RHGM and purchased a new board from Amazon. I fitted the board and the problem was solved. I am now able to carry on with the CFS install and setup.

I positioned the CFS about 1 metre from the printer but the CFS is struggling to load the filament. I am now going to set the CFS closer to shorten the filament run and see how that goes.

I can confirm that the replacement board has an issue with the thermocouple plug fitting. The pin spacings are the same but the socket shroud fixed to the board is different. I was able to remove the shroud from the original board and swap it over.

I am glad that you got it to work my friend, you can shorten the PTFE tube, I think I shorten the one going from the filament buffer to the extruder as well, I have managed so far to print with 3 colours pretty good, I have not tried 4 colours yet, most of my prints are 2 or 3 colours.
