I see there’s an improved version of the CFS now called the CFS-C. I still have the original CFS in a box that I never got around to installing, and I’m wondering if there’s a way to upgrade the original version to the new version? If the main unit happens to be the same, but the part that installs on the printer is different, maybe it’s a reasonable option? Just curious. Thanks, Rusty
Hello !
From my knowledge, the main unit is not the same. New CFS-C has another board and another firmware…So you will not be able to make it work with the upgrade kit of the older CFS
Hi!
It depends what printer do you use. CFS is for K2 printers and for Creality Hi printer, while the CFS-C is the unit compatible with the older models that doesn’t have cutters to go with CFS
I see that your post is in the K1 Max related posts so if you have this printer, you should return CFS if you can and buy CFS-C instead,
You can use the cfs-c with the K1C 2025 and K1 Max 2025. Before that date you had to the cfs upgrade kit to use the current cfs. The firmware and buffer are completely different. You can use with the K1 and K1SE but the K2s use the CFS. That is what I got from the information. The CFS-C only accommodates 4 color and one cfs. The original CFS can be combined with three others for 16 colors
Thanks for the comments. My printer is a K1 Max from Jan 2024. It’s stock with the exception of upgrading the hot end to the later Unicorn nozzles. Last year I bought the CFS, plus the “K1 Series CFS Upgrade Accessory Kit”. I watched to see how other people were doing with the upgrade, and saw enough problems that I held off installing it.
I see now that the upgrade kit no longer exists, but the CFS-C says for K1 Max 2025. Does that mean it won’t work on my K1 Max from early 2024? If that was the case, you’d think they’d still sell the upgrade kit for older K1 Max printers.
I’ll probably Ebay the original CFS and upgrade kit still in the box, and if the CFS-C will work for my printer, I’ll buy that instead.
Thanks,
Rusty
Hello, the CFS-C cutter box has 4 slots, so it’s highly likely that in the short term the CFS-C will be able to accommodate 3 more boxes to also reach 16 colors.
