I can push PLA filament through, and it comes out correctly. When I try the extrude option from the printer screen I get clicking noises and nothing coming out. The PLA is brand new Hyper PLA from creality. I took the entire motor out and cleaned it and even changed out the hot end. I then put it back together and it is still not extruding. I than took it apart again and I think I might have melted some of my motor gears. I have only had this printer since January of this year. I am posting pics in which I put a blue markup around where I think the gears are melted. I just want to see if you agree with me before I put out money replacing the motor.
Hello @CyricVirus
Welcome to the Creality Forum…!
I don’t think you need a new motor just maybe order some new gears. It’s always good to have spare parts for these machines…
I’ve gotten some here:K1 Max Extruder Gear Kit
Also make sure that tiny bearing is in place on the other half of the extruder.
Just curious how do you think the gears might have melted or broken…? Maybe worn out from use…? I’ve had the teeth break on mine and it’s not used that much.
I didnt know I wasnt supposed to keep the top on my K1 Max while printing PLA and I was running a 2 Day print and when there was only a hour left it stopped extruding and the clicking sound started. Was pretty frustrated since I wasted 1.3K of filament.
I use my printer a lot so I am thinking the gears melted mainly because I kept the top on while printing PLA (Which is the only filament I use)
Yup. That can cause problems.
I think there is a decal on the cover explaining that…
Yep That is how I figured out I had been doing it all wrong. Not sure why I never read that decal but I guess I was so excited to finally have a 3D printer I just never bothered with it. Thanx for that link I already ordered them.
