I’ve had my laser since December and it is hit and miss whether it will connect. I have installed and uninstalled Lightburn (I bought the subscription), honestly I think I have wasted my money with this machine. So very disappointing as when it works it’s great but I can spend hours trying to connect - may be user error but I have read so much and looked at so many videos and still can’t get it to be consistent.
I will uninstall again and wondered if there is anyone who would be able to talk me through installing and connecting it - I’m happy to pay for your time if you are proficient in this. I am in Australia and would be available this week.
Hi @Suzanne_Felsenthal .
This is probably “obvious”, but are you checking each time the COM port and selected device?
(The bottom tab - completely at the bottom, on the righ side - should be on “Laser” for you to see the above)
When I started, I had poked around and created more than one device configuration.
Following Murphy’s law, the default selected device was NEVER the right one…of course!
I don’t use my Falcon2 22w directly connected to the computer.
The laser unit is in the garage, and the computer is at the other end of the house.
To control the laser unit, I use a MINTION camera (yeah - extra expense, but worth it if you ask me). It has a built-in web server I can control with my tablet where I can upload gcode files to it. This way, when I’m done with my design, I upload the gcode files to the camera, go to the garage with my tablet, and control everythign from there. (select the file, home, frame, run, …)
Be warned make sure you are always present when the laser is on - remote or not!
I seriously hope this helps you! It’s a great unit and you’ll have a lot of fun once you get it going!
LightBurn is also a great tool once you get a hang of it!
Cheers!
