I finally saved up enough for a CR-10 Smart, but it will not connect to WiFi or Wired Network
My router is an Orbi which supports 5GHz and 2.4GHz. I shut off the 5GHz radio leaving only the 2.4GHz radio enabled, followed the instructions in the guide, but it still will not connect to the printer. I factory reset my router before turning the 5GHz radio and it has the latest firmware.
I’ve updated the firmware to 1.0.14, Screen Version is U122. Within the Creality Cloud App on my iPhone, I’ve scanned the QR code and it finds the printer via bluetooth, but will error out when tryng to setup the network. I’ve tried connecting to the printer itself as the instructions state. The printer shows up in the WiFi list and will connect from the settings menu, but will not connect when trying to set it up in the cloud app.
I’ve reset the network on the printer as stated in the manual, run setup but still errors out. I reset the network again and tried to setup it up via wired LAN, but errors out as will.
I’m not running a VPN on either my phone or router.
I’ve flashed the printer with latest FW multiple times still will not connect. I’ve tried downgrading the FW still will not connect to WiFi or wired.
I’ve searched Reddit and other sites and found that other are having similar issues trying to connect to a network with the CR-10 Smart.
I’ve also cleared the cache within the app and reset the network everytime I’ve tried to connect.
I swiched to an older router that only supports 2.4GHz still will not connect.
The WiFi security is set to WPK2 made sure that WPK3 was not enabled.
It took me a long time to save up for this printer, I’m hoping someone may have a solution for this issue.
The wifi board inside the printer can have updated firmware (on a micro SD card! Pain to do as you have to open it up. If your CR10 Smart is new I would sugest you contact creality support.
You should not have to chage your router settings. Does the non pro version have ethernet? I dont recall. If so try that first.
I’ve tried changing my routers to just WPA security but unfortunately it did not resolve the connectivity issues.
Tomorrow I will try the looking at the FW for WiFi board and update with the version provided by Creality. What’s odd is that this printer has an ethernet port, but it doesn’t show up in the attached devices list so I can’t set it to a specific IP address, so I let it try and connect via auto DHCP. For a moment I saw an IP address of 10.10.10.xxx flash on the list then disappeared.
The printer is the only device connected to the router and nothing is attached to the WiFi when trying to connect to the printer. Just trying to take all of the variables down to the bare minimum.
Again, thanks for the quick responses. I’ll send an update once I’ve tried updating the WiFi FW.
Thanks Dennis for the rreply. I saw that post already, and honestly, I am leary of updating since the computer, 3d laser and 3d filament printer (along with my Brother paper printer and Synology NAS) all worked together and no flaws. It wasn’t until I noticed my computer had the Sequoia OS installed that my troubles began.
Is it possible for an OS Update to get applied, and in doing so, change or delete any settings, parameters, drivers, etc. it deemed un-necessary?
