CR-10 V3 - Blue Screen after trying to update firmware

Help! I have been trying to update the firmware using both PrusaSlicer and Cura on a Mac M4 laptop and nothing would recognize the printer. But each time I tried (main power unplugged, only Mac connected to the printer via USB), the screen would go through the normal turn on stages and get to the main page. Somewhere in my trying things, now I only get a blank, backlit blue screen. This happens both with it connected to just the laptop (no main power connected) and when I disconnect the laptop and reconnect the main power and turn it on.

How do I get this unbricked? I have searched a ton and I have not found much to help. Could it be something with the SD card (I took that in and out a few times - while the machine was off)? or is there something else going on?

ANY and ALL help is greatly appreciated. It’s been a day of trial, error, and much frustration. Thanks.

I downloaded the proper .hex file, started Prusaslicer, and with my laptop plugged into the board, I powered on on the CR10, and updated my printer that way. Mine was on COM3, then I browsed for the file and flashed it.

Oh. I did use a Windows laptop. Idk if that makes a difference.

Thanks. Yes, that does make a difference unfortunately.

That was the approach I was trying to take but it never connected on either of the options PrusaSlicer offered. Now that it isn’t starting up properly I’m not sure if it will find it at all.

I read about needing to use something like ST-Link to hook to the mainboard and “forceably” update the bootloader and install the firmware (from the .hex file). Seems a bit invasive but if nothing else works…

This is where I got the file.

Yes, thank you. That is where I got what I have. I have been using that for a long time (currently have 2.1.0.0 installed, or did…) and just want to upgrade to the latest, which is where this whole “journey” began. Good firmware for anyone else that wants to go beyond the stock.
