I wanted to share an issue I’ve been facing for a while with my CR-M4 printer and that I finally managed to understand and resolve on my own.
I was experiencing persistent problems with print interruptions — both during planned filament changes and after unexpected power outages. The printer was simply not resuming or detecting the runout, which was extremely frustrating on long prints.
After testing across multiple versions of Creality Print (including the most recent ones available for Mac Intel chip), I discovered that none of them include the necessary G-code commands to activate these features by default in the machine start profile for the CR-M4.
Specifically, the following commands were completely absent from the Machine Start G-code:
M413 S1 ; Enable Power Loss Recovery
M412 S1 ; Enable Filament Runout Sensor
M500 ; Save settings to EEPROM
The CR-M4 firmware does support these features — the problem is purely that the slicer profile never activates them. As a workaround, I had to add these lines manually to the Machine Start G-code in Creality Print’s printer settings.
I strongly suggest that the Creality development team includes these three commands in the default Machine Start G-code for the CR-M4 in future updates of Creality Print. It would save many users the confusion and wasted prints that come from assuming these safety features are active when they are not.
