Creality CR-10 SE prints crooked

Hello community,
I am an absolute newcomer to 3d printing. Six weeks ago I bought a Creality CR-10 SE. So far I am quite happy with the device. But since a few days all prints are crooked in Z-direction. I have already printed a few of these earth skewers. All with the same settings. Until last week, the results were fine. I have no idea what happened in between. I will provide you with a few pictures after another print. Unfortunately I don’t know what to do and hope for your help. Thank you in advance.

Crooked in the Z axis, do you mean layer shifting? That is sometimes the Y axis belt tension, I would check that. On my V3SE I get layer shifting if I use Creality Print 5.1 but it is fine with 4.3.8, you haven’t said which software you are using.

Hello Bonfireman,

First of all, I have attached a few photos. Maybe you can see something of what the problem might be. The belt of the Y-axle is relatively well tensioned. I don’t know how tight the X-axis or Y-axis belt should be. By the way, I used the Ultimaker Cura 5.8.1.

Greetings

Hey there, I was having layer shift issues on my CR-10SE on the x axis after about 2 months of use. It was driving me crazy and I tried all the common fixes. After almost throwing the printer away I noticed my hot end was loose when I was scraping some material off of it. I removed the cover and tightened the 4 allen screws and now it prints great. Might this be your issue?

Hello Mccloed, thank you very much for your tip. I’ve only just got back to printing because the troubleshooting was getting on my nerves. I couldn’t find the error and didn’t enjoy printing any more. But then came your tip. And it was the right one. Many thanks for that. I still can’t imagine why I was able to loosen the hotend after such a short time. I tightened the screws and now it prints again as it should. Thank you very much.

Glad it worked out! It was driving me crazy, also.

Hi, I’m also facing a similar issue with my CR-10 SE. Can you share how tight the belts on the X and Y axes should be, and if there are other things I should check to avoid layer shifting?

Hi nora_mila,
there are a lot of videos on the internet about this. The tension belts should be so tight that you can still move the print head back and forth easily. You can also check whether the screws at the hotend are tight. All you have to do is remove the cover on the print head. I hope I have been able to help you a little. Greetings

@Markus2603 thankyou for this.
