I purchased the above printer in June 2023 and have enjoyed many successful relatively small prints of up to a few hours duration. After experiencing some apparent malfunctioning during levelling, I have recently updated both the main board and screen firmware from 2.08.26F4 / V1.0.3 to 2.08.28F4 / V1.0.5 respectively, and have noted that there are some significant differences on the GUI at least for both printing and levelling.
The initial Print screen for selecting a file from the SD card now shows a graphic of a small figure together with lines for print details such as print time etc. Unfortunately, neither the figure changes or print details are provided, when or after selecting a file to print.
The screen presented after auto levelling is also quite different showing a matrix of values, which are assumed to represent z-axis correction offsets from some datum which will be applied during printing, and an option to edit or save these values.
After searching the Creality website I am unable to find any update to the user manual to explain anything about these changes. Whilst I can probably get a better understanding from trial and error manual bed level adjustment when I can get it to work (that will be my next post) I would rather have some official documentation. I have fruitlessly asked Creality customer support if there is such a manual. The only response provided, now three times, is that they understand I am seeking instruction on how to update the firmware.
I would be grateful if someone could point me to a revised user manual or solid explanation of the changes.
My guess is that you are using Creality Pront 5 or possibly 6 if you can actually get it to function. I have an Ender S1 that everything was working and all the model previews and thumbnails were on the screen every time. Mid way through the Creality print 5.0 versions one evening poof nothing was showing up. Just the little Creality guy and blank readouts for all the model usage specs. No firmware or software updates were installed. Tried anything and everything I could think of but no changes. So I tried Cura ultimaker that I was using before 5.0 was released and magically everything showed up. Still after all the software updates I still have the empty preview screen. I have not used Creality 6.0 yet because the Mac program won’t let users login to Creality Cloud to access previous machine information and settings. The printer still prints models and functions like usual but no preview information available.
Many thanks for your response. I have been using Cura 5.4 for slicing and loading the gcode on to an SD card and loading / printing from that. Have read about the problems with Creality Print, and dont want to complicate matters further by using it. Am I right in understanding that the model preview and print details screen works for you when using Cura? In which case what rev. are you using, and are you controlling your printer direct from your computer or with an SD card? Many thanks again.
