Please assist me with the issue in regards to the Extractor Fan Grid , Where is the grid suppose to be on the inside or on the outside of the machine

The grid is inside, but on the outside there is this duct to connect the hose which also has a grid so you can’t put a finger in the fan on mine. So actually both sides.
