Yes, you can use a phone, BUT IT HAVE TO BE A VERY HI END ONE.
YOU NEED A PHONE WITH 8 GB OF RAM MINIMUM AND A VERY FAST PROCESSOR.
My Xiaomi 11S pro only can handle low quality scans.
On the manual they state you need certain type of phones, I even buy the pro and not the normal because can be used with a phone and have the base for the phone, then I found which my phone is no suitable, and I will no buy a new phone on the near future.
Supposedly a last generation Iphone or a high end Samsung phone will work.

Is your Xiomi 11 model with 128GB 8GB RAM or ? , I was thinking of trying the Xiomi 15 with 12 gb ram and 512 gb what do you think ?
I’ve used it with a quite cheap Xiaomi phone before and it worked. If you can get a phone with 8GB or better 12GB of RAM that helps.
