Dear Creality Support and R&D Team,
I am writing to report a critical software-induced hardware clearance bug on the Creality K1 Max equipped with the CFS upgrade kit.
The Root Cause:
During the operational sequences of the CFS (including automated filament change, standalone purging, and filament cutting), the printer invokes internal commands such as BOX_CUT_MATERIAL and BOX_NOZZLE_CLEAN. However, the underlying firmware logic forces the Z-axis (bed) to stay too high (locked around 24.02mm or 25mm), leading to a violent mechanical collision where the physical cutting mechanism and the rear wiper assembly scrape heavily against the build plate.
Why Temporary Macros/Slicer Fixes Do Not Work:
Attempting to fix this via the Slicer’s Change Filament G-code only provides a partial solution. Because the filament change sequence, the cleaning sequence, and the cutting sequence are handled as separate, distinct processes by the machine, fixing one macro does not prevent the bed from crashing during other standalone cleaning or cutting cycles.
Furthermore, modifying parameters like extrude_pos_z in the configuration files is ignored by the firmware, and overriding these macros via standard Klipper configurations triggers a fatal XS3002 system crash.
Requested Action:
We are leaving the resolution of this issue entirely to your engineering team, as it requires a core firmware-level fix. Please update the internal firmware logic of the Creality OS / CFS module so that the Z-axis drops by at least 3.5mm to 4.0mm universally across ALL cutting, cleaning, and purging routines before the toolhead moves to coordinates like X38 Y230 or the wiper area. This is essential to prevent permanent damage to users’ build plates and extruder assemblies.
