Creality Rotary Pro - 40mm/rotation seems wrong

Hi all.

I just got my new Rotary Pro from Creality.
The instructions says to put 40mm/rotation, but when doing so and framing the model, the thing rotates a good 3-5 times when it should go round only once.
Has anybody experienced this? Has the step motor changed maybe between versions?

I’ll continue doing some tests and let you know if I come up with a proper setting, but in the meantime, it’s troublesome…

Cheers!

Seems I found the issue.
I’m using the MINTION camera to control my laser - I do this because the camery has some storage and a web interface that I can use with my tablet as my computer is far from the laser.
What I do is create my design, upload it to the MINTION Web app (called Beagle Engrave), walk up to the laser with my tablet, and control it from there while beside the laser. The software allows to move the laser, home it, fram the project, …

It seems that the framing, when using a rotary tool isn’t right. However, the engraving is working as expected.
So for a tumbler, when trying to frame a design, the rotary will turn ~3-5 complete cycles. When engraving, it will just move as set up on the model in LightBurn.

In case someone else is playing with this rotary tool, here are some recommendations:

  • Start from : Current Position
  • Job origin : bottom-left
  • Engraving speed : 6000
  • Power : 60%
Of course, these are my suggestions, and can be a good starting point.
I also suggest you take a tall can (473ml beer can) and try engraving on that by “burning” the paint - it will show you what the final product “should” look like.

Anyhow - at least I can proceed further now that this is out of the way!
