Please release a version of Creality Scan that does not require admin rights to run. I am a high school teacher and this is a dealbreaker for schools. We have dozens of Creality 3D printers that work great but the scanners are useless to us until this gets fixed.
Agreed! I recommended the Raptor Pro based off performance in its price category. I have egg on my face because the IT team does not support the decision because this issue. The user by company protocol will have limited access to the computer, the software requires admin privileges.
There is no technical reason why a Windows user-mode application should need to have admin rights to run. Creality claims that they need admin rights to write to the registry. This indicates that their programmer don’t understand how the registry should be used, because they want to write to sections in the registry common for all users instead of the section reserved for current user. This is a typical junior programmer fault caused by lack of knowledge how registry works and how it is to be used.
I work at a large company where we are not granted administrative permissions on our computers. I will need to return the scanner if we cannot resolve this issue. I will try to contact the sales/returns department.
