Would anyone have any info on how to do your own custom g-codes? I have a K2 plus printer. I’d like to try and tweak them a little.
I guess the real question is; how deep down the rabbit hole are you looking to go? Do you have a specific objective such as let’s say, reducing the purge cycle or pausing print or manipulating nozzle temps during print? If that’s the goal, I would first try to see if someone hasn’t already posted such a mod.
If you’re looking to master G-code programming, my favorite go-to is YouTube. It is important to note that G-Code has been around a very long time and it was originally designed for CNC milling machines. The X,Y, Z movement commands made it perfect for 3D printing.
G-code programming can really unlock the inner-tinkerer if you are patient. Here are two great videos I used to get me started and a Wiki link.
Stefan from CnC kitchen. He’s actually a CnC trained engineer so really understands the technology and his YouTube channel supports his passion for 3D printing. Arguably a great place to start.
Makers Muse. Another good channel.
Here’s the quintessential G-code for 3D printing put together by the grandfather of all 3D printing platforms, open source RepRap of which we can credit much of 3D printing today.
But if you want to dive really deep, for the K2 Klipper is the core OS, here is the reference material. It has everything and if you ever have a hard time sleeping… This will also cure insomnia.
This is very technically dense material but covers all of the Klipper G-code extensions.
Take a look to https://fullcontrol.xyz/
you will find some challenges.
Thanks Guys. I’ll check it out. ![]()
