Diagonal Parallel Lines in Both Directions

I’ve started to get parallel lines on my prints in both directions. I suspect it could be some sort of random extruder feed problem, but I’m reluctant to take it apart before I’ve askes for advice. Here is the base layer and the start of the second layer to illustrate the problem.
If anyone has experienced a similar situation or has any advice, it would be most welcome.

Heya Dave, Welcome!
What printer, filament, settings, slicer are you using?
What is the print supposed to look like?
You say this is a new occurrence? Any recent mods?
Just looking at it shows some issues, but before I tell you that radioactive vampires have been chewing on your wiring, would you please give us some more info?
Hope to hear back soon, Cheers!

Hi and thanks for the reply. I’ve tried different filaments and the print is just a flat square 2mm thick. I just stripped down the print head all the way to the extruder and took that apart as well to check the gears. it all seems fine. Put it all back together with the same results. Have also bypassed the filament sensor to ensure that there is no drag. Have leveled the bed and have changed magnetic mats and also rotated them 90deg to see if it could be the mat. Same result. I’m beginning to think that it might be a firmware/software glitch as I can’t think of anything mechanical that would give the same result.
Settings are pretty standard and I’ve tried printing and old project direct from the SD card which gave no problems at all before!
Your thoughts are most welcome.

Regards
Dave

Just tried it again.

First layer is too high, try dropping z-offset by 0.1mm, also think it is under-extruding a bit. Have you checked your e-steps/rotation distance?

Hi again. You are correct. I have tested the e-steps and it’s under-extruding by 12mm. Not sure what to do to correct it. There are lots of info regarding the S1 Pro but I just have the Ender 3 S1 so not quite sure what to do, but I will keep looking.
Regards, Dave

Which extruder? I know mine has a 3:1 ratio so its 400 on e-steps or 7.53 on rotation distance or thereabouts.
