I am sure we will have to experiment with the ratios and they will vary with type of material and color - my biggest concern is color consistency so I can print actual products with it. Looks like this will be possible with a small ratio of masterbatch color as well as the shredded material. I cannot wait to try it! I backed the combo #459
1 - maintaining consistent dimension of filament - early reviews seem to point in a positive direction, but only with limited run, what we need to understand is if it maintains solid diameter after hundreds (or thousands) of hours
2 - being able to shred not only poop, but prototypes / failed prints. this is a difficult one to tackle, and i think it will require another component that shreds the bigger parts into ones that will than be manageable by the R1 for the final “grinding” - until that exists there can always be an attempt at using a hammer on the bigger parts, but that’s far from ideal
that being said, it’s still pretty cool, even if only using virgin material, making your own filament is always cool
