Is there a way to disable the nozzle cleaning? The reason I ask is I was considering an alternative build plate that doesn’t have the nozzle brush.
I’m not sure what would happen if the printer goes back there to clean the nozzle and doesn’t find a brush. It “appears” that the nozzle is higher than the ends of the brush that it probes for brush height and would just wave the nozzle around in the air. However, I’m not 100% certain it wouldn’t do something stupid and start digging a trench in the build plate. Obviously, disabling that function would be the desirable option.
The K1s don’t dig a trench when there is no brush.
I can see why you would want to disable that routine if there is no brush, only one of my printers has a brush so cleaning isn’t a necessity and disabling it would make starting a print quicker.
Yep, especially since one of the things that the K1C does is do the cleaning step at two different extruder temperatures. I’d lose the delay they have sitting around waiting for the temperature to go down, then go back up for the two cleaning passes. It’s not that much time, but if there’s no brush, it’s a total waste to be doing that dance.
As others have said, for small prints, the printer getting ready for the job takes more time than the the actual print job!
