Ender 3V3 SE - first layer> what am i missing ??

So I’ve had this ender 3V3 SE for 2 years, worked pretty well, I changed the stock plate for a PEI plate, never had and serious issue that a good Z-offset wouldn’t solve.
To speed up my prototyping workflow, I even bought a second (used) Ender 3V3SE.
Both are running with octoprint run by one Rasberry Pi each (but it’s not relevant for my issue). My slicer is orcaSlicer.

Everything was fine until last week. One the the printer (#2) still works like a charm, but i can’t get the other one (#1) to work properly : either the first layer is messy, and ends up ripped / smashed at some point, or there is simply no first layer at all, and i just get a massive blob of PLA on the nozzle.

What I did/observed on printer #1
⟶ The PLA purge line prints correctly, the PEI plate is just fine, I tested with the original hotend and he ceramic kit, the bed probe is all new (installed a new one after the problem started occuring)
⟶ tried Auto bed-leveling ⟶ no improvement
⟶ tried changing hotend ⟶ no improvement
⟶ swapped filament, PEI sheet with the ones usually used on the other printer and with which the result is okay ⟹ no improvement as well
⟶ tried adjusting Z-offset ⟹ tested almost all values in a +0,2/-0,2 mm interval to no avail

⟶ of course, i tried to print the exact same files with my 2 printers : same result : #1 vomits molten PLA, #2 prints just as it should.

⟶ and yes, the problem is exactly the same wether i’m using the SD card or octoprint to start the print.

⟶ no apparent problem with the belt tension / bearings / rails …

So what am i missing ? Why is one of my printers working fine, and the other one is not, even after checking all these parameters ?

If you have any idea, i’d love to read about it.

Check if the carriage of the hotend is mounted correctly, it should move easily from left to right and vice versa, but sometimes it can tilt a little and then it compromises the level. If it tilts, you have to adjust one of the wheels with the hexagon nut between wheel and carriage. Not to tight!
